Information

I have created a custom extended faceplate design (112mm x 212mm) and a detailed laser cutting guide for the Milwaukee M18 FTR laminate trimmer.

The purpose and technical reasoning behind this design include:
The standard base on the Milwaukee M18 FTR is relatively small; this oversized plate provides a much larger surface area to prevent the tool from tipping during heavy routing tasks.

This design creates a professional-grade, extended faceplate (112mm x 212mm) to improve stability during woodworking projects. The bolt pattern is specifically calculated for the M18 FTR model based on edge-to-edge measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

Technical Specifications

Material: 3mm to 6mm Black Acrylic (as seen in the provided images).

Outer Dimensions: 112mm x  212mm.

Center Hole: 31 mm diameter.

Mounting Holes: 4 holes 5mm diameter)in a trapezoidal arrangement.

Bolt Pattern (Center-to-Center):

Top Width: 43mm

Bottom Width: 48mm.

Vertical Height: 48.3mm.

Machine Setup

Place your acrylic sheet on the xTool P2 honeycomb bed.

Use the "Aim" feature in XCS to position the design on your material.

Perform the "Auto-measure" for distance to ensure the laser is perfectly focused on the acrylic surface.

3. Laser Settings (xTool P2)

Based on your successful testing, apply the following settings in XCS:

OperationPowerSpeedPassesNotes
Cut (Outer & Center Holes)75%8 mm/s1Ensures a clean edge through the acrylic.
Engrave (Screw Pockets)55%300 mm/s1Creates a recess for the screw heads.

Screw Pockets: The provided code includes 5mm holes. To allow screw heads to sit flush (as seen in picture ), you can use the Engrave setting on a slightly larger concentric circle eg 8mm to 10mm around the small holes.
Feel free to add anywhere the handles if you like
