Information
The test grid is laser-engraved onto 3D-printed PLA to investigate the material behavior of PLA under defined laser parameters. The aim is to systematically analyze the effects of power, speed, focus, and line spacing on engraving depth, contrast, edge quality, and surface alteration.
The standardized grid allows for reproducible comparison of results and the derivation of optimal laser parameters for engraving PLA. Furthermore, the test grid serves to evaluate dimensional accuracy, thermal stress, and potential material deformation, thus assessing the suitability of PLA for precise laser engraving in functional and visual applications.

Step1: create and engrave

Create a test grid in xTool Studio via the application menu. Enter the IR laser module and the power and speed ranges. Then, select the size of your test grid by specifying the number of rows and columns.
Once it's created, ungroup the grid and set the labeling parameters.
Now, align the grid with your material and start the test.
As always, observe the appropriate safety precautions.
