Information

      I tried this on the back of a stainless steel charger (it has a dent on the rim so it's useful as a testing piece). I prepared the charger by spraying one layer of black laser marking spray. The spray goes on white, but it allows the 20W diode laser to produce black markings on metal. The array was created using the test array creation tool in xTool studio. I wanted to see the full range of results, so had 10 array blocks from power 10% to 100%, and speeds from 10 to 600 mm/second (the max for S1 is 600 mm/second).

Items of note:
* As seen in the picture of the front of the charger, the speed 10 shows through on the other side of the metal charger plate for powers greater than 40%!
* The highest power and speeds below 200 have some texture
* The fastest speed - 600 mm/sec - produces pretty good looking engraving at powers >= 60%
* The whole engraving took just over 70 minutes to run.
* The black laser marking spray is required for engraving stainless steel with the 20W diode because the surface is reflective and the laser will just bounce off it if it's not coated with something. I placed the plate on a stack of examination paper, sprayed it once (outside), then let it dry for about 15 minutes before engraving. Since the spray comes off easily I put the plate in with the paper so the white marking spray would not get all over the inside of my machine. The spray washes off easily with water.
