Description
Make rating plates for your machines, serial-number tags for your products, or nameplates for doors and gifts. Start from a template, enter your text and export a laser-ready SVG at real size. Turn on batch production to make dozens of plates in one go, each with its own serial number or a row from your spreadsheet.
Feature highlights
- 11 editable templates:
- Equipment plates: modern rounded, legacy scalloped, industrial reverse and legacy clipped.
- Nameplates: rectangle, clipped, side tabs, scalloped, ornamental, rounded and oval.
- A table of fields you can edit freely:
- Add, remove and reorder up to 20 label–value pairs, plus a heading, subheading and footer.
- Leave a value empty to get a blank line to fill in by hand or stamp later.
- Show values underlined, as plain text or knocked out of filled boxes, in one or two columns.
- Long text shrinks automatically to fit the plate.
- Outline and mounting:
- Free width and height from 20 to 1000 mm, with an adjustable corner radius.
- 0–8 mounting holes in style-specific positions (0–2 on side-tab and ornamental plates), with adjustable diameter and inset.
- Optional engraved border that keeps an even distance from the edge and curves around the holes.
- Reverse engraving fills the background and leaves the lettering bare.
- Seven built-in typefaces (sans, sans bold, classic serif, serif italic, monospace, condensed and calligraphic) with Latin, accented, Greek and Cyrillic characters. No installed fonts needed.
- Add up to five logos or custom lettering as SVG files. They are placed in a row above the heading and engraved in one colour.
- Preview your plate on aluminium, brass, black anodised metal, fibre-marked steel, oak or painted metal, or switch to the laser paths view.

Batch production
- Serial numbers:
- Set a start, an end, an increment and a minimum number of digits (0001, 0002, …), plus an optional prefix and suffix.
- Put
${SERIAL}in any text, or click “Use serial in fields” to fill it in automatically.
- Spreadsheet data:
- Import or paste a CSV file (comma, semicolon or tab separated) with up to 500 rows and 30 columns, and edit the values directly in the app.
- Use a column name such as
${NAME}anywhere in your text; each row becomes one plate.${INDEX}numbers the plates from 1. - “Use columns as fields” builds the field table from your CSV headers in one click.
- Sheet layout:
- Plates are arranged in a grid on a sheet with your maximum width and height, plate spacing, edge margin and an optional column limit.
- When a sheet is full, the next plates go on another SVG sheet.
How to use
- Choose what you are making (Equipment or Nameplates) and click a template.
- Set the plate size, then type your heading and field values in the “Text & fields” table.
- Open “Outline & mounting” to adjust the outline, border and holes, and “Lettering & layout” to change the font, text sizes and value style.
- Optional: add your logo under 'Custom SVG artwork'.
- Optional: turn on 'Batch production' for serial numbers or CSV data, and set the sheet size of your material.
- Check the preview. Switch to “Laser paths” to see exactly what will be cut (red) and engraved (blue).
- Click Download, or open the design in xTool Studio. Choose suitable processing settings for your material and test on a scrap piece first.
Changed your mind? Applying a template or Reset can be undone from the left panel. Settings that would produce an unusable plate, such as holes too close to the edge or text that does not fit, are highlighted with an explanation, and export waits until they are fixed.
Supported materials
The generator creates flat, laser-ready vector files; which materials you can use depends on your laser.
- Cutting and engraving in one job: laser-grade plywood, MDF, solid wood and acrylic, within your machine’s cutting capabilities.
- Engraving or marking on pre-cut blanks: anodised aluminium, stainless steel, brass, painted or coated metal, wood and acrylic. Turn off 'Cut outer outline' and set Mounting holes to 0 to engrave only.
The material finishes in the preview are illustrations only. Always select your actual material and processing settings in your laser software.
Export note: SVGs are 1:1 in millimetres, with red (#FE0002) cut paths and blue (#2366FF) engraving, and all text converted to paths. Large batches are exported as several SVG sheets. No kerf compensation is applied.
