Start with clean, flat packaging cardboard. No coatings, tape, or plastic layers should be present on the surface to be engraved.
Place the cardboard securely on the laser bed and do not cut the material. This project uses engraving only.
Use a single engraving pass. The laser burns the top layer of cardboard, creating contrast and revealing texture naturally. No additional layers, glue, or assembly are required.
Monitor the engraving process closely at all times. Since cardboard is highly flammable, never leave the machine unattended.
Keep a fire extinguisher or spray bottle nearby as a safety precaution. Stop the machine immediately if excessive flame or smoke appears.
Once engraving is complete, allow the cardboard to cool fully before handling or removing it from the bed.
No finishing, sealing, or post-processing is needed. The final result is the engraved cardboard piece as-is.
