1. Open the original colored image.
2. Increase Sharpness to 100%.

This strengthens:

• Celtic edges
• Vein lines
• Border detail
• Contrast zones

Sharpness is critical for diode engraving clarity.

1. Duplicate the sharpened image.
2. Convert duplicate to Grayscale.
3. Move the right-hand grayscale slider down to 170.

This:

• Brightens white areas
• Darkens edges
• Enhances tonal separation
• Improves diode contrast engraving

• Layer 1 → Original colored image
• Layer 2 → Enhanced grayscale version
• Align them precisely on top of each other.

Perfect alignment = clean relief illusion.

Blue laser burns wood through carbonization.

If you see:

• Excess smoke
• Dark muddy areas
• Loss of detail

Reduce:

• Power to 70%

• Dot duration to 170–180
• Basswood burns easily.

Layer 1 creates:

• Base tonal foundation

Layer 2 creates:

• Depth enhancement
• Sharper shadows
• Relief illusion

The dual-pass method builds dimensional contrast without deep cutting.

• Wipe gently with Isopropyl Alcohol.
• Use a soft brush to remove char residue.
• Let it fully dry.

Optional:

• Very light sanding (if needed)
• Natural oil for depth enhancement
