Description
Clock Face Generator · Beginner’s Guide
Generate a laser-cut wooden wall clock face using customizable parameters, preview the result in real-time 3D, and export SVG / DXF files with one click.
Get Started in 30 Seconds
Choose a style preset (Minimal / Roman / Numbers / Ticks / Modern / Dots) — Start with a base design, then customize it.
Adjust parameters in the right panel — The 3D preview updates instantly as you make changes.
Switch to Export Preview to check the cutting layout, select SVG or DXF, and click Export to download.
Numeric fields support two operations: drag left/right for continuous adjustment, or click to enter a value directly (press Enter to confirm, Esc to cancel).
Switch between mm / inch at the top. This only changes the display unit and does not affect the actual dimensions.
Two Views
| View | Purpose |
|---|---|
| 3D Preview | Product preview. Shows the wooden clock face, raised hour markers, metal hands, and clock movement. The hands move according to the current real time. Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, and rotate to the back to view the movement assembly. |
| Export Preview | Cutting layout preview. The left side shows the main clock face, while the right side shows the nested layout of all small components. |
Parameter Quick Reference
| Section | Adjustable Options |
|---|---|
| Shape | Overall shape: circle / square / rounded rectangle / polygon (4–12 sides). Size range: 50–400 mm. Default: 250 mm circle. |
| Hour Index | 12 hour markers: shape (line / rectangle / triangle / dot), length, width, and distance from the edge. Highlights can be added for 3/6/9/12. |
| Minute Ticks | Minute markers: line or dot style, length, and width. |
| Numbers | Number display: none / 12 numbers / 4 numbers / Roman numerals. Adjust font size, distance from center, and orientation (upright / radial). |
| Inner Ring | Decorative inner ring: single line / double line / dashed line, with adjustable radius and line width. |
| Center | Center movement hole diameter (3–20 mm, set according to your clock movement shaft size). Optional decorative ring. |
Each section can be enabled or disabled using the switch on the right side of the section title. Click the title bar to expand or collapse. Use Reset in the top-left corner to restore default settings.
Manufacturing Structure (Important)
This clock face uses a layered applied-piece structure, rather than engraving all details directly onto the surface:
Hour markers and numbers are separate cut pieces. After cutting, they are attached onto the clock face to create a raised 3D effect.
The clock face includes engraved positioning outlines for each piece, making alignment easier during assembly.
Export files use colors to distinguish processing steps: Red = Cut through, Blue = Engrave (with laser processing labels included for direct use in software).
Therefore, the small components shown on the right side of Export Preview are required for cutting. Do not cut only the clock face on the left.
Export
SVG — Universal format, suitable for most laser cutting software.
DXF — Suitable for CAD-based workflows.
Files are exported at 1:1 scale in millimeters. Do not resize after importing.
Common Questions
Will numbers and hour markers overlap?
No. When parameters exceed the available space, the system automatically adjusts them (for example, numbers will move inward if they overlap markers, and the center hole will shrink if it exceeds the clock face). Simply follow the hints for fine adjustments.
What size should I make it?
For beginners, 200–300 mm is recommended. Smaller sizes may make numbers and markers difficult to cut accurately, while larger sizes require more material and may need longer clock hands.
Do I need to buy the hands and clock movement separately?
Yes. The movement and hands shown in the 3D preview are only visual references and are not included in the exported cutting files. Set the Center hole diameter according to your purchased movement shaft size, and choose hands slightly shorter than the clock face radius.
Recommended materials?
3–5 mm basswood or plywood is recommended. The face and small raised components can be cut from the same sheet of material.
