Sliceform Generator
Create a cross-slice model from an STL, OBJ, or PLY file. Choose your material, enter its measured thickness, and fine-tune the fit with a small comb test before cutting all the pieces. Use the 3D and 2D previews to inspect the result and check the cutting sheets. The app exports SVGs at 1:1 scale: red lines indicate cuts, while blue lines indicate outline engraving. You can also add part numbers and settings to the sheets. Fit correction is already applied to the SVGs, so do not add another kerf compensation. The white paper ghost shown in the photos is an example. Its settings are a starting point to adapt to your paper and machine. Previews and diagnostics cannot replace a physical assembly test.
Description
Prepare the example. Open "Ghost" in Sliceform Generator. The example uses a model rotated 90° around the Z axis at scale 1, with 5 X slices and 4 Y slices in white. The 200 g/m² paper preset suggests a thickness of 0.25 mm; measure your own paper before cutting.
Test the fit. Enter the measured thickness and cut the comb fit test from the same material, using the same machine. Choose the correction that gives a suitable fit, then enter it under "Material." The initial 0.1 mm value is only a starting point.
Cut the sheets.Check the parts in the 3D and 2D previews, choose an A4 sheet, and export the SVGs at 1:1 scale. Set red lines to cut and blue lines to outline engraving if you enabled part numbers. Do not add extra kerf compensation to the SVG.

Sort the pieces. Remove the cut profiles and lay them out as shown: ghost silhouettes in the middle, with the other shapes around them. Locate the slots before assembly.

Start with the trickiest pieces. First fit the profiles with several slots and openings together, aligning their slots without forcing the paper. The photo shows a cross piece being inserted into the first profiles.

Complete the crossings.Add the remaining profiles gradually, matching their slots. After each addition, check that the pieces are fully engaged. The partly assembled structure is shown here.

Display the finished ghost.Check all the crossings and gently straighten the paper slices to achieve the intended shape. The photos show the assembled object from an angle and from the front.

On this paper prototype, the slice groups can be turned by hand to lay the ghost flat.
