Information

      Story:
This is my Grandad Roy Stevens, he was quite the character and very well known. His nickname was "Shakey" after Shakin Stevens the old singer.
He was certainly the god father of the family.
He was a tradesman bricklayer (runs in the family).
He loved a little bet on the horses and football (Soccer), and was quite lucky.....

One day he was at his local pub and went to the toilet and collapsed suddenly. We quickly realised this was serious and he was rushed to hospital. He sadly passed quickly when it happened from an Aortic Aneurysm. leaving a massive whole in the family.

When I saw the AI filters on Almake I knew I had to make one of him......

You can do this with any sublimation setup, but if you have the XTool Direct to Film you are going to have so much fun (Like I would if I had the funds to get one)!!

Instruction

Step1: Bring in your Photos to XCS

Preview

Open up XCS /Atomm and bring in the Photos you want to use.

Step2: Select the AI Filter you want to use (Retro Chalk Sketch)

2. You will have a selection of various filters, but I used the Retro Chalk Sketch in this project. It naturally has a Yellow Hue, which I feel adds to the effect. You can counteract this by taking it into Photoshop or Affinity to adjust.

Just click on the AI Filter you want to use and Press “GENRATE”

and wait for the magic to happen.

3. So I did a collage style using 4 photos that I used the Retro Chalk Sketch AI Filter with.

4. This part will depend on your sublimation setup.

I have a full sublimation set up so I utilised this, but if your have the XTool Direct to Film Printer you are going to have fun with these!

I sized these to fit the cushion nicely ensuring the gaps and it all lines up nicely.

5. I use a Cushion Teflon Pad I made myself but you can use a folded small towel as an insert (inside the cushion) as this gives you a nice even print.

I use a lint Roller to take of any excess bits of flick.

I then pre press for 10 seconds to remove any moisture (as this can effect your transfer)

I then spray the transfer non printed side with a temporary repositionable spray glue (this stops ghosting).

This also helps to keep the transfer in situ when pressing.

I then position the transfer. and then lay a large piece of baking paper over the complete thing and press for 60 seconds

Once printed you will need to apply to the cushion. You will need a Heat Press for this process 180c for 60 Seconds Medium/Firm Pressure.
