Information

I made this Rubber Gloves Drying Stand for my wife because her rubber gloves would never dry after washing dishes and the gloves would begin to smell. Plus, I didn’t want her to stop washing dishes.

Step1

1. I started out by tracing her hand onto a piece of paper.

2. I scanned the hand into computer and imported it xTool studio. I removed the background and converted it to a vector image.

3. For testing using my S1 40 watt laser, I cut out the hand image from a piece of corrugated cardboard. It was then I realized a glove was hard to get onto the cardboard hand. That was due to the thumb which I then removed from the design.

4. In xTool Studio, I created and cut out the final design using Baltic Birch plywood.

5. I painted it gray to match our granite countertop.

6. I sprayed it with a clear coat satin lacquer for water proofing.

7. To give the project a bit of weight, I glued a gray molding tile underneath the base.
