For the mom who rules the kitchen—and isn't afraid to cause a little chaos!

Add a dash of humor to her favorite recipes with our "Stirring Up Trouble" Engraved Wooden Spoon. Crafted from durable, solid beechwood, this spoon isn't just a cute piece of kitchen decor; it’s a fully functional, heavy-duty cooking utensil ready for her famous sauces, soups, and batters.

Instruction

1

Step1

Preparation & Measurements

  1. Measure the Spoon: Use calipers or a ruler to measure the flat wooden area where you want the engraving.
    • Example: Let's assume the engravable area is 120mm x 35mm.
  2. Clean the Surface: Wipe the wood with a dry cloth to ensure there is no dust or oil.
  3. Safety First: Put on your laser safety goggles and ensure your ventilation/air purifier is running.
2

Step2

Design Setup in XCS

  1. Create a Reference Box:
    • Open XCS.
    • Select the Rectangle Tool and draw a box.
    • In the top properties bar, unlock the aspect ratio and type in your exact measurements (e.g., 120mm width, 35mm height).
    • Crucial Step: Set this rectangle's processing type to "Output" unchecked (or just use it as a visual guide). This ensures the laser doesn't cut the outline of the box; it's just there to help you center the text.
3

Step3

Laser Settings (The "Recipe")

These settings depend on your specific xTool machine (D1 Pro, M1, F1, etc.), but here are the standard starting points for Hardwood:

  • Processing Mode: Engrave
  • Lines per cm: 100 - 120 (This gives a dark, solid fill).
  • Power & Speed:
    • For 10W Diode (e.g., D1 Pro 10W): 70% Power / 150 mm/s Speed
    • For 20W Diode: 40-50% Power / 200 mm/s Speed
    • For CO2 (P2): 15-20% Power / 250 mm/s Speed
4

Step4

Alignment & Framing

  1. Place the Object: Put the spoon on your laser bed (honeycomb or slat). Use blu-tack or tape to hold it perfectly still if needed.
  2. Focus the Laser: Use the kickstand lever (D1/M1) or the auto-measure (F1/P2) to set the correct focal height on the surface of the wood.
  3. Framing (The Most Important Step):
    • Click "Framing" in XCS.
    • Watch the laser module outline the area.
    • Adjust the physical position of the spoon until the framing light sits perfectly centered on the wood.

Step5

Engraving & Clean Up

  1. Start: Click "Process" and then press the start button on your machine.
  2. Watch: Never leave the laser unattended while engraving wood.
  3. Post-Processing:
    • After engraving, the wood might have some soot/residue.
    • Use a soft brush (like a toothbrush) or a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to wipe the engraving. This creates that sharp, high-contrast look.
