Celebrate the achievement of a 4.0 GPA with this slate coaster project

I always like to start coaster projects by laying out a space to place my design. The easy way to do this is measure the coaster, mine is 4x4, and create a square on the XCS canvas with the same dimensions.

In my example, I added a 4.0 GPA, but you could be celebrating a 3.5 or any GPA. Enter this as a textbox and size it to fit your coaster.

Next, Let's overlay the “GPA” text. Size it to look as you want.
Next, use the outline tool to draw a vector around the gpa text. Now select the vector and hold down shift to also select the 4.0 text. Use the combine tool to subtract This makes a cutout of the GPA text where it overlaps the 4.0 text.
on this project the settings are for th D1 with a 5w laser. You may need to adjust your setting as needed.
Be sure to follow the safety rules for your laser and wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
