Spinning Top - #5weeks5Projects

Information
This is my take on the #5weeks5Projects #ToyOrGame: How to make a spinning top for your kids (even your furry ones)
Instruction
Step1: Design your spinning top

Start by adding a total of 7 circles to your canvas. You'll want to start with a 40x40mm circle followed by a 35x35mm circle. Keep adding circles each 5mm smaller than the previous until the smallest at 10x10mm.
Step2: Add holes to your discs
Before you can add the holes for your kebob skewer, you should measure the size with a caliper. The diameter for my kebob skewer was 3mm.
Add 7 additional circles the size of your measurement, 3x3mm in my case, to the canvas. Place each circle in one of the discs. To align it perfectly select a disc and a hole and click on Align → Horizontal align center, followed by Vertical align center. Group those 2 shapes together to make sure you don't accidently move just one shape.
Repeat this step until every disc has a hole in the center.
Step3: Add a design to the top disc

Add a design of your liking to the top disc. A swirls gives the top spinner a hypnotic look while it is spinning. You can design a swirl yourself using the vector tool or you can download a free one from a website like pixabay.
Align the swirl with the disc like you did in the previous step and move it to another layer for easier processing parameter settings.
Step4: Set the processing parameter

Set the processing parameters by layer (engrave and cut) or use mine if you are going to work with the same material. Adjust the engraving paramaters if you prefer lighter or darker engravings
Step5: Assemble the spinner

Cut off the tip of your skewer and put it through the wood pearl. Add some wood glue on the surface and add the smallest disc. Continue with adding glue and the next bigger disc until all discs are connected.
Since the pearl does not have a round shape on the bottom fill it with glue until some of it sticks out of the hole. Gently form a round surface with your fingertips. Finally, cut off some length of the skewer.
Wait until the glue is set and enjoy your toy!
