Step1

Hardware Setup

1. Install the Riser Base (Crucial) Most xTool machines (especially the D1 and S1) do not have enough height clearance to fit a tumbler under the laser head. You must lift the machine using the riser base or leg extenders.

Tip: Ensure the machine is stable and level on the risers.

Step2

Connect the Rotary Tool

Plug in the rotary attachment cable into Machine

Place the rotary tool inside the working area, aligned parallel to the machine's frame.

Choose Your Mode: Roller vs. Chuck

Roller Mode: Best for standard cylindrical tumblers (like a Yeti 20oz or 30oz) with no handle. Place the tumbler so it rests on top of the two rollers.

Chuck Mode: Best for mugs with handles or tumblers that aren't perfectly straight. You will need to swap the roller component for the jaw chuck component.

Leveling: Use the small level (often included) to ensure the surface of the tumbler is perfectly flat horizontally. If the tumbler is tapered (wider at the top), lift the bottom end of the rotary tool until the top surface of the cup is level.

Step3

Select Processing Mode

Open XCS and connect your machine.

On the right-hand settings panel, look for "Processing Mode" (default is usually "Laser Flat").

Change this to "Laser Cylindrical".

2. Select Rotary Mode

A new menu option will appear for the rotary attachment. Select either Roller or Chuck depending on your physical setup.

3. Enter Measurements

Roller Mode: You do not need to measure diameter; the machine calculates movement based on the roller rotation.

Chuck Mode: You must measure the diameter of your tumbler (in millimeters) and enter it into the "Perimeter" or "Diameter" field in XCS. If you enter the diameter, XCS will auto-calculate the perimeter.

4. Focus the Laser

Move the laser module so the red crosshair (or laser dot) is directly on the highest point (the peak) of the tumbler's curve.

Use the kickstand (D1 Pro) or auto-measure distance sensor (S1/F1/P2) to set the focus at this specific height.

Step4

Design & Settings

1. Import and Orient Design

Import your SVG or PNG file.

Rotate the design 90 degrees.

Why? The rotary tool typically spins the object to act as the "Y-axis." If your text is horizontal on the screen, it might engrave wrapped around the cup incorrectly. Usually, you want the top of your design pointing to the left of the screen (assuming the top of your cup is facing the left of the machine).

2. Recommended Settings (Start Here) For a standard powder-coated tumbler (like a generic colored travel mug), use these settings as a baseline. Note: Always run a test on a scrap cup if possible.
