Step1: Gather all your items together.
Get together your three sheets of 3mm basswood. Set up your machine with a honeycomb ready to cut two sheets.
Step2: Cut out two jigs
In the file, head to the second Canvas named “To Cut & Engrave”. Align a sheet of basswood and process the cut/engraving. Repeat two times.
Step3: Glue cut jigs together
Glue the two pieces together. Make sure that the cuts, and not the outside of the board, align as best as possible.
Step4: Glue jig to base
Glue the two cut pieces already joined to the base. Your jig is now complete.
Step5: Align jig
I align the jig to the top and bottom left-hand side and ensure it is straight. I then place the laser to the top left when ready to process a job.
Step6: Bur your designs
The jig is good for round and square 100mm (4") coasters. Align in the jig and set your parameters to engrave.
The first Canvas named “guide” is where you can place your pictures. All lines are locked so you can move things around without messing up the jig. The outer box is there to ensure that the engraving follow the jig exactly and is set to score at 0% power and maximum speed.
Within the four areas are some guidelines. The circle is for round coaster and allow you to ensure your design will stay within the coaster. The inner square is the rough workable size for a slate coaster with rough edges. The main size works well for square coasters.
