Information

      Father's Day is a celebration of the everyday heroes who guide, protect, and inspire us.

This project was designed to honor fathers through a symbolic transformation. At first glance, the display shows a superhero standing proudly with a flowing cape. Hidden behind the cape is the true hero: a father holding hands with his children.

Using a magnetic design, the superhero panels can be removed to reveal the family scene inside, creating a meaningful surprise and reminding us that real heroes don't wear capes every day—they simply show up for their families.

Designed for laser cutting and engraving with the xTool F1, this project combines glossy black acrylic, magnetic assembly, and layered storytelling to create a unique Father's Day decoration.

Step1

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Cut and engrave all parts using the provided XCS or SVG files.

Step 2

Prepare the father-and-children centerpiece and the two superhero cape panels.

Step 3

Glue four magnets to the back side of the father-and-children piece.

Step 4

Place the remaining four magnets on top of the mounted magnets so they automatically align with the correct polarity.

Step 5

Apply a small amount of super glue to the exposed magnets.

Step 6

Carefully position the left and right superhero panels onto the magnets.

This method automatically ensures proper magnet alignment and guarantees the cape panels attach correctly.

Step 7

Allow the glue to fully cure.

Step 8

Insert the display pieces into their base slots and enjoy the completed Father's Day decoration.
