Hold her tight! Beaver penholder

Using 3mm Chinese plywood, laser machining was done with the xTool S1 20W.

A

circular base combining the beaver body, both arms, and twigs, along with the parts supporting the pen, are arranged on a single sheet of plywood, and carving, scoring, and cutting are used for processing.

The

beaver's expression, tail, and fine lines of its limbs are expressed through sculpture, while the pedestal is designed to evoke twigs collected by the beaver. Even fine branches and leaves showcase the unique effects of laser processing.

After processing, each part is separated, both arms are attached to the beaver body, and combined with the base for finishing. By inserting the pen between your arms, it becomes a desktop pen holder that looks like the beaver is tightly hugging the pen.

This

piece combines practicality and playfulness, allowing you to enjoy the process of cutting parts from a single sheet of Chinese plywood and assembling them.

Assembly Instructions

1. Attach the pen holder to the beaver body. Insert
   the triangular pen holder into the insertion port on the belly of the beaver. Attach it so that the round hole faces upward.
2. Attach the left and right arms.
   After attaching the pen holder, attach both arms to the beaver body.
   Check the left and right orientation so that you can hold the pen in a position where you hold it.
3. Attach the beaver body to the base. Insert the
   base of the beaver body into the insertion part of the circular base made of twigs.
   Make sure the main body stands upright.
4. > set the pen and you're done.
   Insert the pen through the round hole in the pen holder and set it between your left and right arms.
   When the beaver is holding the pen tightly with both hands, it's complete.

Assembly Points

If the insertion is loose, fixing it with a small amount of woodworking glue will stabilize it. Before gluing, it's recommended to temporarily assemble all the parts and check their orientation and position before finishing.

After completion and

coloring, after assembly, brown tones were added to the beaver's tail, hands, legs, and hair to preserve the natural texture of the wood, creating a warm finish.

The base is subdued in coloring to preserve the original atmosphere of the

twigs, utilizing the grain of the Chinese plywood. By adding a soft green touch only to the leaves, I added a small accent.

The key is to finish without filling in the

entire area, ensuring that the laser engraving's lines and wood grain are clearly visible.

Finally, insert the pen into the central hole and set it so you can hold it with both arms, and you're done.

I imagined a beaver sitting quietly on a twig they had gathered, clutching a pen as if it were a good thing. This wooden pen holder can be used as a practical item while displaying it on your desk for enjoyment.
