Laser Cut Wooden Floral Frame with Swinging Girl and Happy 40th Sign

Preparation & Materials

Before you start gluing, ensure you have the following:

• Adhesive: CA Glue (Super Glue) with a precision tip or fast-drying Wood Glue.
• Tools: Tweezers (for placing small flowers), intricate masking tape (optional), and clamps or small weights.
• Sandpaper: 220 grit for smoothing edges.
• Paint/Stain: Acrylic paints or wood stains if you are coloring the wood (as seen in the listing photos).

Pre-Assembly (Painting & Staining)

Do not assemble until all paint is dry.

• The Flowers: It is easiest to paint the flower cutouts before gluing them onto the wreath. Use a small brush or paint markers.
• The Leaves: Stain or paint the wreath layers green.
• The Couple: If you engraved the couple, you might want to lightly sand the face to remove burn marks (masking tape before cutting helps prevents this). If you cut the couple as a silhouette, stain them a contrasting wood tone.
• The Sign: Paint the "Happy 40th" text or engrave it deeply to show contrast.

Sub-Assemblies (The Small Parts)

Build the small components first so they are ready to go.

• The Swing:
  1. If your design has the couple separate from the bench, glue the couple onto the bench seat.
  2. Attach the "rope" or "chain" pieces to the sides of the bench. Handle with care—these long, thin pieces are fragile.
• The Signpost:

1. Glue the horizontal planks (with the text) onto the vertical post.
2. Set aside to dry under a small weight to keep it flat.

The Main Assembly (The "Stack")

This design works best by building from the bottom (back) up.

Step A: The Background

1. Take your solid backboard (the square piece that fits the back of the frame).
2. If you have a background layer (like a solid light wood or a sky color), glue that down first.

Step B: The Middle Layer (The Wreath & Swing)

1. Placement Check: Before gluing, dry-fit the wreath layer to see where the swing needs to hang.
2. Attaching the Swing:
   • Option 1 (Fixed): Glue the swing ropes directly to the background board so it doesn't move. This is safer for shipping.
   • Option 2 (Hanging): If your wreath layer has small notches or hooks for the rope, loop the rope top over them. Put a tiny drop of glue at the connection point to secure it.
3. Glue the Wreath: Apply glue to the back of the wreath foliage layer. Align it with the edges of your backboard and press down.

Step C: The Top Details (Flowers & Grass)

1. Grass: Glue the grass layer at the very bottom, creating a foreground.
2. The Sign: Glue the assembled signpost on top of (or tucked slightly behind) the grass layer on the left side.
3. Flowers: Using tweezers, glue the individual flower heads onto the wreath in the designated spots. Vary the colors for the best visual effect.

💡 Pro-Tips for a Clean Finish:

• Less is More: Use very small dots of glue. Squeeze-out (glue oozing from the sides) is hard to clean off unfinished wood.
• Masking: If you are laser cutting this yourself, apply masking tape to the wood before cutting. This allows you to peel off the smoke stains after cutting for a perfectly clean surface.
• Warping: If your wood pieces are slightly warped, use clamps while the glue dries to force them flat.
