Well it is dim in the room and you want to leave, here is an Exit sign so you can see where the door is.
Step 1) This 2 layer Exit sign starts with inserting a rectangle, once the approx. size was made a shape of a triangle was also added. This triangle was also sized and rotate to meet one end of the rectangle.
Step 2) Once this was positioned correctly at the one end of the rectangle with a slight bit of over lap the combine feature was used to unite the 2 pieces together to create the pointed rectangle shape.
Step 3) Once the shape was copied and pasted one of them was adjusted a little smaller, this was easily done by un-locking the sizes and simply adjusting to have an even border all the way around.
Step 4) Now that there is a pointed rectangle with a border it was time to add the text, this was done by hitting the text button with Hello appearing on the work area, this can be edited within the text edit box and it was changed to EXIT all capitals letters. I picked a font that showed the word with bold straight forward letters. Once I had the word correctly sized so it fit touching the top and bottom along with being centered I made sure it was slightly over sized vertically so it could be united with the border.
Step 5) Now that the sizes were adjusted selecting the combine button and picking subtract was used, this took away the parts I wanted so the EXIT word was all part of the border as well. This once cut will be the top layer of this 2 layer sign.
Step 6) Now that all the sizes and positions were in place it was time to group all of the parts and adjust the setting. These were all going to be the same for all cutting so it was a simple 100% power 5mm/s speed and 3 full passes.
Step 7) A sheet of 1/4" 6.3mm plywood was placed into the laser bed for framing and cutting, this sign does not take up the entire sheet so locating it in one far corner is best to save the remanding material for future projects.
Step 8) Once the laser was done it's job a coat of white paint went of the top coat, the border and the lettering, the second piece it too got a paint job be it was red for safety colors and contrast. Hope this sign can give someone a nudge in the right direction when needed...Enjoy!
