Instruction
Step1: How to Make the “Take Up Space” Acrylic Earrings
Materials
3 mm glitter acrylic sheet (base piece)
Mirrored acrylic sheet (top Saturn ring piece)
Laser cutter (xTool F2 Ultra or similar)
Strong acrylic adhesive
(Weld On 16, E6000, or UV resin adhesive)
Jump rings
Earring posts and backs
Masking tape or protective film
Microfiber cloth
Step 1: Prepare the Design File
Separate your artwork into two layers:
Layer 1 — Base (Glitter Acrylic)
Heart shape outline
Top hanging hole
Engraved Saturn details directly into the glitter acrylic
Layer 2 — Top Piece (Mirrored Acrylic)
Saturn ring shape only
“TAKE UP SPACE” lettering engraved or cut depending on design
Keep engraving lines and cut lines on separate layers.
Step 2: Cut and Engrave the Glitter Acrylic Base
Place glitter acrylic in laser bed with finished side facing up.
Keep protective masking on if available.
Run engraving first:
Engrave the Saturn planet details into the heart.
Use lighter engraving settings to avoid melting glitter texture.
Then run vector cut:
Cut heart shape.
Cut hanging hole.
Remove pieces and clean gently with microfiber cloth.
Step 3: Cut and Engrave the Mirrored Acrylic Saturn Ring
⚠️ Mirror acrylic scratches easily.
Leave protective film ON during processing.
Place mirrored acrylic mirror side UP.
Engrave:
Engrave lettering (“TAKE UP SPACE”).
Use lower power to avoid clouding mirror finish.
Cut:
Cut the Saturn ring shape.
Do not remove masking yet.
Step 4: Clean and Prepare for Assembly
Remove masking from both pieces.
Wipe surfaces lightly to remove residue.
Dry fit the mirrored ring onto the glitter heart to confirm alignment.
Step 5: Glue the Mirrored Acrylic Layer
Apply small dots of adhesive to the back of the mirrored Saturn piece.
Do NOT spread glue to edges (prevents squeeze out).
Carefully place onto engraved position on glitter acrylic.
Press gently for alignment.
Important:
Use minimal adhesive.
Too much glue causes fogging on acrylic.
Step 6: Cure
Depending on adhesive:
E6000 → Clamp lightly and cure 12 to 24 hours
Weld On → Sets quickly but allow 1 hour handling time
UV resin → Cure under UV lamp 2 to 5 minutes
Keep pieces flat during curing.
Step 7: Attach Hardware
Open jump ring sideways using two pliers.
Attach through top hole.
Connect to earring post loop.
Close ring securely.
Step 8: Final Quality Check
Ensure mirrored piece is centered.
Check engraving clarity.
Confirm edges are smooth.
Verify no adhesive residue is visible.
