Internal photo engraving in a k9 crystal heart keychain

1. Preparing the image: This is a photo taken by a phone.
2. Remove the background by any means of your choice and export the photo in png without background in 300 DPI

Prepare the laser with the internal engraving lens and holder. Take the measurements of your crystal carefully. Here I put a heart-shaped outline in order to make sure that the engraving will not touch the edges.

The very important risk if you touch the edges with the engraving is that the crystal will spontaneously crack where the edge is engraved.

On my picture I put the heart at its actual size 30x30 mm and 12.5 mm thick. I frame the image away from the edges except on the top because the crystal is flat and there will be no risk.

For the engraving I use the default settings, I just change the layer height to 0.03.

The heart won't be engraved, I'll uncheck the exit box on this layer.

And here we go for a little more than 16 minutes of engraving.
