Step1: Designing the Mendala

I used XTool Studio's AI Make function to design the mendala with the tiger in the center by selecting relief generation and then depth map as the style.  This created the circular design on a black rectangular background.  

 

I brought the image into my project and then selected edit and used the Mask function to crop the image from a rectangle to a circle (selecting a circular area that fully encompassed the design with a bit of black border around the outside).  Given that the design was symmetrical left to right, I did not need to mirror the image; however, I would have done this if it was not symmetrical because I intended to use the coaster with the unengraved side facing up.

Step2: Setting up the Embossment

To set up the embossment, I selected embossment from the mode settings in the upper right hand corner of XTool Studio.  I then selected K5 Crystal Faceted Round Ornament from the matierials menu as this was the closest option to the K9 crystal round coaster I was embossing.  I set the number of layers at 100 and used 100% power.  I set my speed to 405 (you might be able to go faster, but this was the setting I used), set it to a single pass, and used default settings for frequency (40kHz), lines per cm (300), and engraving angle (30). I turned on the descend at the z-axis setting and set it to descend every 5 layers, leaving the default 0.3mm for the “by N mm” setting.  I left noise reduction on and cleanup off in the advanced settings.
