Information

Elevate your morning ritual with the ultimate tribute to the world's favorite energy source.

☕🧪Whether you are a chemistry whiz, a science teacher, or just someone who can't function without their morning brew, this "Wake-Up Element" slate coaster is the perfect addition to your coffee table or desk.

Featuring the precise chemical structure of Caffeine ($C_8H_{10}N_4O_2$) laser-engraved onto natural black slate, this coaster combines rustic charm with intellectual style. It protects your surfaces while celebrating the chemistry behind your daily boost.

✨ Why You’ll Love It:Natural Beauty: Made from genuine slate with unique chipped edges, meaning no two coasters are exactly alike.Permanent Design: The design is laser-etched directly into the stone. It will not peel, fade, or wash off.

Surface Protection: Includes soft foam padding on the bottom to keep your furniture scratch-free and prevent sliding. The Perfect Gift: An ideal gift for science majors, doctors, pharmacists, baristas, or that friend who is always caffeinated.

Import & Resize

  • Open XCS and click Image to upload your design file.
  • Click the design to select it.
  • In the top size bar, ensure the Lock Icon is closed (to keep the ratio) and type in the width of your cutting board (leave a small margin, e.g., if the board is 11", make the design 10").

Step2

Machine Setup

  • Focus: Place your slate coaster in the laser bed. Use the auto-measure distance tool (or manual kickstand) to set the laser focus on the top surface of the slate.
  • Framing: Select your design and click Framing. Watch the laser outline the area on the coaster to ensure it is perfectly centered.

Settings & Burn

Parameters (Slate):

  • Processing Type: Engrave
  • Lines per cm: 100-120 (for high detail)
  • Power/Speed:
  • For 10W/20W Diode (D1 Pro/M1): Try 100% Power at 300 mm/s.
  • For F1 (Infrared): Try 100% Power at 500 mm/s (Dot duration 150).
  • Note: Slate handles high power well; you want to vaporize the top layer to reveal the white stone underneath.

Start: Click Process and push the button.

Step4

The "Secret" Finish

  • Clean: The engraving will look dusty/chalky. Wipe it with a damp cloth.
  • Enhance: Apply a light layer of mineral oil or a spray clear coat (matte or satin). This turns the grey background back to deep black, making the white engraving pop significantly.
