Information

Layered Cut is a minimalist paper object that explores spatial depth through layering and distance rather than color, illustration, or imagery. Multiple laser-cut paper layers are stacked within a fixed frame, forming a calm, topographic structure defined by flowing contours.

Each layer is constructed with its own upper and lower boundary, creating true spatial stratification. Depth emerges from physical separation and shadow, not from graphic illusion. The outer working frame ensures precise alignment during assembly and disappears completely behind the mat once framed.

The project is designed as an open design system.
All files are structured to be reproducible, material-efficient, and laser-friendly: one sheet equals one layer, all contours are closed, and each layer is clearly separated for cutting and assembly.

Layered Cut focuses on construction and depth rather than decoration.

Laser settings should always be tested first, as cutting performance varies depending on the specific cardstock used.
