This project was created to preserve a piece of my family’s history.
My grandmother wrote this recipe for her “Nameless Cake” on index cards over 80 years ago. The exact date is unknown, but the handwriting has been passed down through generations.
My aunt sent me photos of the original recipe cards and asked if I could turn them into something meaningful for her children and grandchildren. The goal was to preserve the handwriting exactly as it was written, while removing only the paper stains and wear caused by time — not to redesign or modernize it.
Using AiMake inside xTool Creative Space, I was able to clean the images while keeping the character of the original handwriting intact. The recipe was then laser engraved onto an acacia wood cutting board, creating a functional heirloom that can be displayed or used for generations to come.
This project combines sentimental value, modern technology, and traditional craftsmanship.
