This intricately designed haunted house within a darling cat silhouette works great engraved and as a cut out design as well for a layered look. Made using my M1 Ultra 20w laser and I've used 3mm bass wood and glittery cardstock - both worked a treat!
Makes beautiful engraved ornaments, larger wall hangings or paper layered projects/lanterns!
Important Notes for Your Consideration
**I tried to cut it out on 3mm black acrylic and it failed only because I tried to make it a cut out ornament but I sized it too small and with all the cut outs and intricate details it became too fragile. So make sure, if you're going to cut out the design, to test it out first to ensure stability.
**Sized up at a certain point, the bats become detached from the main design, and one of the moons is separate too. Everything else is attached. Without the bats on the right side, it can leave a big gap under the spider, so consider this in your design if you're doing a pure cut out without a backing.
**At 90% power and 10% speed, it did not cut all the way through the basswood, even though those were the recommended settings for cutting. So, set the power at 100% and slow it down, or do a grid test for exact specs on your machine. Because trust me, with all the intricate pieces, you need it to cut all the way through everything.
**I added an internal and external offset to create an additional gap for a layered cutout I wanted to have light shine through and hit glittery components I included - so you might consider that if you want there to be additional spacing for layered or translucent backed projects.
