Variety of Wedding Invitations - O1 Edition

A few notes about this project.

IMPORTANT!! ALWAYS PREVIEW A PRINT PRIOR TO PRINTING!!

First is the fact that these were each created with the same names, dates, venue addresses, etc. You are free to change any of it that you need to. The words are all grouped together and using differing fonts. Just ungroup and then change each section as needed. 

Second, each part of an image was printed individually. That means that if the words were printed on the back of acrylic, I printed those first, then the image and then the white layer. (More on that soon) This is to limit issues with printing in mirror format. Which leads me to

Third. These instructionals will assume you are familiar with printing on the back of acrylic to show through the opposite side, meaning you will have to ensure that “Image mirror printing” is clicked on. (See photo 1) When printing words on the front of an invitation, make sure it is turned off. 

Fourth. I used one color for each of the images and then a white layer that is added as a final layer for each invitation. The white not only ensure that the colors pop, (particularly on the photo and flower printed ones) but also help the lettering stand out in sharper detail. Some may want to do the “Color + White” , but that is a matter of preference. I found it worked much easier to add the white after the color print is done. The main reason is that the white will only cover what is printed in color with “Color + White” and not the entire back. So by not doing the white on the back of the color areas, you save a little of your white ink.

NOTE: For white on my invitations where it was behind art or lettering, I had white ink choke set to 0.02. (See photo 3)

Each step below details a little about each invitation and any special notes for each one. The settings are the same for each one so I will include those in the Photo Invitation Step (Step 2)

Included with the plans above is the cut files for the invitations. You may need to adjust the sizes slightly if you want larger or smaller invitations. Since these were clear acrylic pieces, I cut them with the P2S using the settings above.

TIP: Adjusting colors of lettering. There may be times you want to adjust the lettering coloring. With the O1, that is a two step process. You have to adjust the color of the stroke (outline of the lettering) and the fill (interior of the lettering). You do this by selecting the lettering and then selecting each one of those options at the top of the page in the bar shown in photo 4. 

The photo invitation is the one that will possibly take the most work. You will want to upload your own photo of the bride and groom. Make sure that it is a photo where they are offset to one side or the other. I used AI to generate a couple for this invitation. If you do not have a photo with them offset, you can use AI and tell it to generate an image with the couple shown offset to one side of a square image. You may also want to say something like “Ensure high detail for UV photo printing” to help it sharpen and enhance the image prior to printing. 

Once you have the photo, scan your baseplate to get your location of your acrylic on your screen and then select smart mask so that you can move your photo over the acrylic and help get it where it needs to be. 

NOTE: It is recommended that you edit your photo and adjust for sharpness and make sure any dark areas are a little brighter. This will help your image stand out more. You also want the background to be light so that the words will show better. 

For the photo invitation, I put the words on the front. What this means is that I first did mirror for the photo, then moved the photo off and then brought in the white square over the mask area and did a layer of white. After that is done, flip the entire image over and move your lettering into place. You may want to adjust the colors of the lettering to pop against your image. I chose a gold tone to show better against the slightly dark colors of the background in the image I had. 

NOTE: Being that the lettering is shown on the front of this, do not forget to change the mirror to off. Also, I did do a single white layer under the lettering so the selection would be “White + Color”

The Hydrangea Invitation

This one is pretty straight forward but it is important to note that you will want to use smart mask and move the hydrangeas to where it suits your invitation. Make sure that as little lettering as possible overlaps the flowers. 

You can print the lettering on the back or the front of this invitation. If on the front, you will want a single white layer under the letters. If on the back, you will want to print the letters first, then the hydrangeas, then the white background.

For this invitation, I printed the letters and filigree on the back first. I only used one layer of color on the filigree and letters but if you want a stronger pop to the filigree, use 2 or more layers.

After the letters and filigree border, I printed the white background.

Another straight forward invitation.

The only thing to note about this is that some people may want a more faded background. In this case you would edit it and increase the brightness to help it fade to your desired showing. The floral printing was done on the back and then a layer of white. The lettering was printed on the front with a single layer of white beneath it. 

Yet another straight forward invitation. You can print the letters and the rose border first and then the white layer on this one. This is probably the simplest of the invitations included in this set.

While seemingly simple, this one does require a little work as the lettering needs to be lined up correctly if you maintain the curved words along the top. Also, with a circular invitation, placement of the words in your invitation needs to be uniform so as not to appear lopsided or, for lack of a better word, wonky. You want an astetically pleasing invitation so make sure you have things balanced in the word placement. I printed the words and rose image base first and then a layer of white.

NOTE: Smart Mask is a huge help here for the circular invitation. 

FURTHER NOTE: Printing the lettering on the front of the circular invitation causes a lopsided look to the entire invitation when viewed at certain angles. Be sure to print the lettering on the backside of this invitation for a uniform and pleasing look.

For envelopes for these invitations, I recommend a sticker that says “FRAGILE”. Acrylic invitations are easily breakable and as such, should be noted for mailing purposes. I order my envelopes based on customers size preferences. Due to the limited standard sizes, some of these envelopes may need to be special ordered. You can find sites to order your envelopes from numerous places online. Just do a search for custom envelopes.

For the circular invitation, I recommend a thick cardstock cut to a square to place in the envelope so the corners stay straight and do not fold inward.

Another idea is to include a precut piece of tissue paper or card stock to cover the front of the invitation to help prevent scratches during mailing.

Finally, do keep in mind that acrylic is slightly heavier than your standard invitation, although not by much. You may want to check with your local postal service on additional postage, if any, that your invitations may require.

NOTE: If doing these for a customer, you will want to take all of the above into account when figuring a customers cost.
