Step1: Print a compatible phone case

First, you'll need a 3D-printable phone case that fits your phone model.

I recommend searching for one on:

  • MakerWorld
  • Printables
  • Thingiverse

Choose a model with a relatively flat back or multi-parts, as it will provide the best surface for laser engraving.

Step2: Print the case

For the best engraving results, I recommend printing the case in either:

  • PETG (recommended)
  • TPU (for a flexible case)

Every filament brand engraves slightly differently, so if you're using a material you haven't engraved before, I highly recommend running a small material test grid to find the optimal settings.

The settings I used with my xTool F2 with the IR were:

  • Dot Duration:      80
  • Power:             60%
  • DPI:               400
  • Speed:             80
  • Repeat:            1
  • Bitmap Mode:       Jarvis
  • Bitmap Scan Mode:  Z Mode
  • Bitmap Engrave:    Dot

You can use them as starting point.

Step3: Engrave and enjoy!
