Retro Floppy Disk Coaster

Choose Your Wood:

• For this project, I used 1/4” maple plywood.

Prepare the Wood:

• Ensure the plywood is smooth and clean. Sand any rough edges if necessary.

Load the File:

• Load the  "Floppy Disk Coasters” design file into your Creative Space laser software.
• Ensure the design is properly scaled to fit your material.

Prepare the Laser:

• Place the 1/4” maple plywood onto the laser bed.
• Focus the laser and set the cutting area to match the size of your material.

Cutting:

• Follow the design file instructions to cut the coaster shapes from the plywood.
• Ensure all cuts are clean and complete before removing the plywood from the laser bed.

Inspect and Clean:

• Once the coasters are cut, inspect each piece for any incomplete cuts or rough edges.
• Sand any rough edges and clean off any residue from the laser cutting process.

Apply a Finish:

• To protect your coasters and enhance the wood's natural beauty, apply a finish of your choice.
• I recommend using a water-based polyurethane for a durable, clear finish.
• Apply several light coats, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next.

Final Touches:

• Once the finish has dried and cured, inspect your coasters for any final touch-ups.
• Clean off any dust or residue to ensure a smooth surface.

• Your Retro Floppy Disk Coasters are now ready to use!
