We used the 1.5mm gray hat patch from Dunz.y and we use the S1 40W.  This machine is quite amazing and versatile. Just before I switched to engrave this patch, I was cutting 3mm white oak plywood and cork. So many options and XCS and Atomm only open more doors for creators.

Precautions

Wear goggles that match the wavelength of the light source

When operating with open covers or using open-type devices, be sure to wear laser goggles that match the wavelength of the light source. Different light sources (blue light/infrared/CO2/UV) have different wavelengths; please pay attention to whether the wavelength protected by the goggles matches the laser;

Processing chlorine-containing materials is prohibited

It is strictly forbidden to process chlorine-containing materials such as PVC, artificial leather, or veneer soft rubber. Laser burning releases highly corrosive toxic gases such as hydrogen chloride, endangering human health and corroding guide rails, lenses, and circuit boards. When unsure about the material, first conduct a small-area test and observe the smell.

Pay attention to odor prevention during processing

Materials such as leather, rubber, and silicone produce noticeable odors; ensure good ventilation and wear protective masks if necessary.

Prevent high-temperature burns after processing

Freshly processed materials and cuts are very hot; please wait for cooling or wear gloves to pick up parts; do not touch them directly.

Use a Test Patch

This was a pretty straight forward engraving project and the settings were not adjusted much from what XCS loaded. The reason for sharing this post is to highlight the speed and versatility of the S1. To be able to move between projects seamlessly keeps our production team moving at all times. See the second image to find 4 different projects with less than 2 minutes of total downtime between all of them combined.
