Information

      Creation of a floral and animal motif specially adapted to the domed shape of a Logitech mouse.

The engraving is carried out taking into account the curvature of the surface in order to maintain a regular and harmonious pattern throughout the shell.

The design combines a squirrel with delicate plant elements, with a composition designed to bypass the central area and integrate naturally into the shape of the mouse.

Step1

Because the mouse shell is domed, the pattern cannot be engraved as on a flat surface. 

A customization made directly on the case, with a pattern that follows the curvature of the mouse rather than an image simply placed on a flat surface.

I used the "Curved Material" function from xTool Creative Space, which allows you to raise the curvature of the surface before engraving and adapt the design to it.

For this realization:

  • Mapping measurement area: 45 × 85 mm
  • The measurement area is deliberately positioned inside the shell, without protruding over the edges of the mouse.
  • The curvature of this area is recorded before burning.
  • The pattern is then applied to the curved surface in order to maintain a regular deformation and a homogeneous rendering.

The design was specially composed to follow the shape of the mouse, with the foliage accompanying the sides and the squirrel integrated in the lower part.

Note: the central mouse logo is kept and integrated into the composition, it is not engraved. <

The engraving is done directly on the plastic shell of the mouse.

Mapping prevents the pattern from being compressed or stretched irregularly when the surface moves away from the focal plane.
