Information

In this project, I will demonstrate how I crafted a simple magnet for a toolbox. This modest present serves as a reminder to dad of your admiration and might even elicit a chuckle with a classic dad joke.

Instruction

1

Step1: Start with the main text

For this project, everything will build off of the text of whatever you want to say to your dad.  Here I am going with a tool theme and have added the saying “no one can measure up to our dad!”

2

Step2: Add in Images and shapes

Next, I added in basic rectangles to fill the space behind the text.  I also added a ruler, screwdriver, and hammer to decorate the design.

3

Step3: Add an outline

Next I select all elements and used the outline tool to draw an outline around all of the design.  The rectangles placed behind the text keep the outline from tracing around the letters.  For this design I just wanted a solid background.  Once the outline is looking good, you can then remove the rectangles.

4

Step4: Settings

The settings are for the D1 5W laser.  You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.

Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
