Summer is coming! Make a statement with these firecracker earrings. Designed from scratch using Creative Space software.
From the shapes menu select the following shapes and resize.
Triangle: W = 2.75” x H = 2.48”
Circle: 0.2”
Large Rectangle – 2 ea: W = 2” x H = 3”
Star: W = 1” x H = 0.951
Base: W = 1” x H = 0.748 (use picture as a reference).
Rectangle Bar: W = 0.3 x H = 4”
To create the stripes for the earring take the bar rectangle and rotate it so that it overlaps the top and bottom corners, duplicate the bar twice and place as shown in the picture.
Select all elements then “Subtract”.
To create the top part of the firecracker, place the star inside the triangle. Select both elements and “Subtract at overlap”
Select all the elements except the small circle and “center horizontally”
Overlap the triangle and the base to the stripes panel as shown. Notice the overlap is greater for the triangle.
Select all and “Unite”
Resize the earring: H = 2”, width will automatically adjust. You can also make them smaller
H: = 1.75” but I don’t recommend going smaller than that.
Place the circle as shown, center horizontally then select all the items and “Subtract at overlap”.
Duplicate and reflect the earring so that you have a pair.
Secure the 3mm basswood to the honeycomb base, do an auto measure and place the file over the desired cutting location.
My settings are: Power 100 - Speed 5 - 1 Pass.
Send to the laser for cutting.
I used acrylic paint: Red, White Blue and Silver to color these earrings. Let dry, I sealed the earrings with a coat of Mod Podge.
Once dry add the jump ring and earring hook and your done!
