First, we need to begin with looking at the material size you will be working with.  I am using a 12x12 sheet of basswood plywood.  I will be creating a puzzle that is 9.5x9.5 inches.  

Next import the image you will use.  

Next, we need to insert an SVG of the Puzzle pattern.  You can use this free generator to create the pattern

Just set up the dimensions of your puzzle and set the number of tiles.  it is important to match the dimensions of the puzzle design and the image used to your material size.

With both the image and the cutout the same size in the XCS software, align the two so that they are aligned horizontally and vertically.  I always like to move the puzzle pattern to the foreground and the picture to the background.  

All operations on this project are cut operations. The settings are for the D1 5W laser.  You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.

Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
