In this project we will create counting coins, which are a great way to introduce counting money to young learners. You can take this file and modify it however you like to best fit your needs.
Our first step is to simply draw a circle on the canvas. It is important to note that when you draw a circle, it might not be exactly the same diameter in all directions. I always unlock the length and width and manually set the diameter for each dimension.
I made my coins 1.5, 1.25. and 1 inches, but you may need to make larger or smaller coins for your situation.
Next, Let's add in some text for the coins. I wanted to add in the cents symbol, which is hard to find in Windows. a quick tip is that you can access the currency symbols by using windows key + “.”.
I entered the value on each coin.
I also applied the appropriate cut and engrave settings for this project given my xTool d1 laser with a 5w unit.
Next, let's use the array tool quickly duplicate the selected coin. Be sure to select both the text and the cut out.
All operations on this project are cut operations. The settings are for the D1 5W laser. You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.
Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
