This is a Mom sign where I used a rose as the O and added a stand on the back so it could stand up. But you actually get two designs on this one because the middle of the first design creates a totally new project.
Cut your sign out of any material you prefer. I started with mdf but the engrave was not showing up as well as I liked so I ended changing to some plywood for the sign part and I used Black Walnut for the mom part and the stand.
Engrave and cut the sign. Carefully remove the outer mom frame trying to keep the inside of the rose intact. I then put a couple pieces of painters tape on top of all the piece before removing from my M1. This trick makes it so much easier to use the inside for a second sign. If any pieces did not stay use the outside frame to line up the missing pieces.
I ended up painting my Mom red and left thy sign natural. I then glued the mom piece to the front of the sign using wood glue making sure to stay above the engraving. On the back, on the stand it is easiest to first glue the attaching piece and then put the rest together and add glue and then insert into the part already attached to the sign. I stood the sign up with all the pieces together to make sure had the bottom of stand lined up with bottom of sign.
I used the insides of the mom to make another sign. This one was a purchased sign so I did not have to cut anything but it would have been super simple to do so.
I took wood glue and made lots of little dots of glue on the mom pieces starting with the rose and making sure I was getting everything centered. Once the glue a few minutes to set up I carefully pulled off the tape, if any lifted I just added a little more glue and put them back in place.
I added a little modge podge to the mom to deepen the color a little and I did add a heart out of the same Black walnut under the mom but did not get a picture before giving this to my mom.
Hope you have fun with this!
