I really liked the Wooden/Acrylic flowers I had been making but I do a lot of pop-up cards and I started playing around with laser cutting paper to see if it was any better than my vinyl cutting machine. So a card for anyone, the flowers are based off birth months, and you can add as many as you can fit. Perfect for just about anyone.
Pick out your flowers and leaves for your card, if you don't see them when you open the file, zoom out, they are there.
I wanted to make some flowers bigger than others, so align the bottom of both the flower and it's corresponding leaf, make sure both are still selected then you can change the size. I wouldn't recommend going smaller than 3 inches or bigger than 6. If you don't change the leaf and the flower part together, they may not fit right in the glueing process.
When working with paper please make sure you turn your air assist, you can find this under settings on your machine, it will be a choice for cutting and engraving. I tend to leave mine up for engraving, but it will need to be at 30% for cutting or you'll have to tape the paper down to the bed.
Your blue and green lines are for engraving
Black lines are for cutting
And the purple is just for the text, you don't really need it.
Pick you paper colors and start cutting. I made each flower a different color, so I cut smaller pieces from my 12 x 12 sheets to fit them in the P2. You might even want to cut some extra leaves to add to the flowers.
Once you have your flowers cut move over to the card tab and pick out your colors.
Your red lines are for scoring the paper
The black lines are for cutting
The purple is just text that you don't really need
Move the items into your workspace and cut away.
You can very well hand wright your notes on the card, but you can also engrave the paper too which is what I ended up doing. Be careful with white however because it can sometimes end up a little sooty and if you're not careful can end up making your white paper look dirty.
Match each flower with it leaf and glue them on. Glue sticks or gel glue with a fine tip work best for this. After you put together each flower glue them onto the "flower mounts" as shown in the photo.
Fold the "flower mounts" at the score lines
Next take your “jar inside” and fold it at the score lines. Take the two smaller tab and add glue to make a little pouch. Sit something heavy on top and let it dry.
After the “jar inside” has dried we're going to add the flowers.
Pouch side facing down pick your first “flower mount” and glue it right next to the fold on the pouch you glued earlier with the tab facing back. Take your next “flower mount” and glue it right behind the tab of the last one, be sure not to overlap. Then take you're third “flower mount” and glue it right behind the tab of the last one.
Next add glue to all the tabs on the other side of the “flower mounts” and add glue to the last tab on the “jar inside”
Fold the tab of the “jar inside” to the side you made the pouch placing it under the tabs for the flowers, push down and lay something heavy on top for it to dry. You should end up with a box at the end with the flowers sitting inside.
Now take your “jar outlines” and “jar base” and glue them together. If you made laser engraved or just blank “jar labels” now's the time to add them too.
Take your jars and glue the back sides to the wider sides of the flower box you made in the last step. It should pop up and stand up on it's own when it's all together.
Take your “card” cut out and fold on all the score lines, add glue to the tabs and fold them over to make a little pouch.
Now add you “card note” to the other side of the of the card that doesn't have the pouch.
When you flower the flower jar flat it will fit into the pouch you made on the card
To help hold everything together glue the “card sleve” tap and fold it over to make a little sleeve to hold the card together.
You can stop here or make the envelope
Take your “envelope” cut out, fold on the score lines and glue to make a pouch. Set something heavy on top and let it dry before trying to add the card
The little pocket on the inside of the flower jar works great for money or gift cards!
