Either for Mother's Day or just to showcase some fresh picked flowers, this is a great project to display flowers for many occasions. Make your own variation by changing the text or adding more cut outs, this is a great beginners project.
Like many projects, I started this one with some basic shapes in the XCS software. The lower half which is the flower pot, is simply a trapezoid. The top half is constructed with another trapezoid and I added circles to the top. I then selected each and used the combine tool to Unite these parts into one shape.
Next, I added in some flower designs to fill in the top half of the design. These will be engraved, so outlines work best.
Next, let's add in some ¼ inch holes for the flowers to be inserted in. I just placed these randomly throughout the upper half of the design.
Next, add in a few lines to add some details to the flowerpot.
To complete the design, Let's add in text. I decided to curve the top line and some additional lines to fill in the space.
These settings are for the d1 with a 5W laser. Your settings may need to be adjusted depending upon your laser configuration.
Now it is ready to run on your laser. I used 3mm basswood plywood, which I am able to get two of these on one sheet. Be sure to follow the safety rules that go with your laser. Always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
