      Created a business sign for a friend's Nail Salon. She does my wife's Nails. The sign is a total of 18" in size, the engraving is 14.75", and the lettering is engraved separately and glued on top to give depth.

Step1: Create and composite Design in Photoshop, also based on guidance from friend, after creation, sent image for approval. Exported file in different layers as PNG.

If you do not have Photoshop to create a composite, use Inkscape or Gimp(Free software)

Step2: Import image in sections to fit 15" Circle

  1. After export from the Graphic Program.
  2. Import to XCS
  3. Select the image and plugin setting from the material test.
  4. Hide the letters and turn the lettering output off.
  5. Place the Sign in S1 and align and mark the circle.
  6. Center image and frame, frame, frame.
  7. Begin to engrave. Engraving takes approx. 120 minutes

Step3: Engrave and cutout letters and Glue in place.

Letter to be glued after some steel wool on the surface of the sign.  After the glue dries, then spray again to seal and protect.

Step4: Final Step

Stain the 18" Circle before gluing and allow it to set. Then brush on the urethane seal and protective coating.  Let dry overnight before delivering.  I wait 24 hours, it adds to the process, but it makes for a better product.  I made two small wood coasters as a thank you to my wife friend and business owner
