Step1: Select Your Wood and Set Up the Laser

  • Select 1/8” mahogany plywood for the project.

Load the Creative Space Project File:

  • Open the project file in xTool's Creative Space software.

  • Load the mahogany plywood into the laser machine.

Set the Marking Area:

  • Define the marking area within the software to match the dimensions of your plywood.

Cutting Process:

  • Using the Creative Space software, proceed to cut all the pieces for the project, organized by Base, Drawers, and Inserts.
  • You can cut these pieces in any order that suits your workflow.

Organize the Pieces:

  • After cutting, organize the pieces into their respective groups: Base, Drawers, and Inserts.
  • Lay out all the pieces on a flat surface as shown in the provided pictures.
  • This visual organization will help you understand how all the pieces come together in the assembly process.

Step3: Clean Up Residue and Perform Dry Run

Clean Residue:

  • Remove any residue or debris from the laser cutting process using a soft cloth or brush.
  • Ensure all pieces are clean and free from any obstructions.

Assembly:

  • Assemble all 6 drawer boxes.
  • Assemble the base and add the inserts

Perform Dry Run:

  • Before gluing, conduct a dry run by assembling the pieces together without adhesive.
  • Use painter's tape to temporarily hold the pieces in place.
  • Verify that all pieces fit nicely and that no components are missing.
  • This step allows you to ensure proper alignment and fit before applying glue.

Prepare Glue:

  • Choose a CA glue (cyanoacrylate adhesive) for bonding the pieces together.
  • Prepare the accelerator spray for expediting the gluing process.

Step4: Sand, Remove Excess Glue, and Apply Finish

Sand and Smooth:

  • Use fine sandpaper to sand the corners of the assembled project.
  • Remove any excess glue that may prevent the drawers from operating smoothly.
  • Ensure all rough spots are smoothed out for optimal functionality.

Check Alignment:

  • Double-check that everything is aligned correctly and that the drawers and doors function smoothly.

Apply Finish:

  • Choose a wipe-on water-based polyurethane finish for the project.
  • Apply the finish evenly across the surface of the project using a soft cloth or brush.

Allow Time to Dry:

  • Allow sufficient time for the finish to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.
