The small version of this lighthouse can be used perfectly as a key ring!
First, I use Sketchup Make to design the lighthouse. I drag an image into the layer and use it as a reference for the lines I draw. I create several layers so that I can represent the front and back of the lighthouse. I then create a round platform on the ground and below the light. Finally, I extract the outline from all the individual parts so that I can export it as a DXF.
In this step, I import the DXF file into Sketchup. The lighthouse can now be customized as desired. For example, text can be added to the platform or directly to the façade.
The sizes can be scaled perfectly in Sketchup, but the openings always have to be adjusted (with a 3mm material). I have created an 8cm and a 12cm version.
I then cut out the individual parts using the above settings.
Assembling the individual parts is relatively simple. The platforms are placed over the three layers of the lighthouse, one from above and one from below.
Make sure that the engraved side (with the picture or the lighthouse stripes) is facing forwards and backwards.
You can use the lighthouse as a key ring, that's what the hole at the top is for. However, the lighthouse is just as suitable as a decoration or as a gift, e.g. for a child's birthday party.
Have fun building it!
