Step1: Cut and Sort Pieces

Down load the design file and cut.  The pattern looks good on many different grain patterns.

Once the pattern is cut, there will be a solid bottom piece, a top rim and twenty-four slats.

There are two types of slats as shown in the picture above: an innie first and an outie first.

Sort the slats into two piles by type.

Step2: Assemble Koozie

Put a small drop of glue in a bottom hole and a top slot.  Click a slat into bottom hole and top ring.  Repeat for each slat being sure to alternate between innies and outies.  It helps to hold the slat, top and bottom on the of each slat for first three or four pieces until the glue holds.  After that friction will hold the pieces until the glue dries.

It is not as tricky as it at first looks.

Step3: Finish the Koozie

On the oak and cherry koozies, I used a layer of natural Watco Danish Oil.  On the basswood one, I stained dark oak before distressing with sandpaper and oiling.
