Step1: The PreDesign Stage
Preview

I really wanted to use a golf bag for this design and I wanted it to be authentic, so I pulled out my ipad and got on procreate and drew one out. Once, I was done, I emailed to myself and pulled into XCS.

Because it was a PNG. Used the trace option in XCS!

This is such a great option if you own an Ipad and have procreate!

Step2: The Design Stage

Photos will contain viusal directions.

  • I started out by bringing the golf bag I designed in procreate and traced it. Make sure you delete the original photo.
  • Add four small rectangles
  • Next I added the shape that looks like a lemon and placed it on top of one of my rectangles. Making sure they overlap. Then on the right side panel hit “Unite”
  • Next, with your traced golf bag, outline it. I used. 0.079 for this project.
  • Now, we are going to go back and make the rest of the golf clubs and flag.
    • Start by grabbing a the triangle and placing it over a rectangle and unite again.
    • Then create a small rectangle, this will be your putter. Make it look like a putter and unite it with a small rectangle as well.
    • Last will be a iron, this one you will have to play with the nodes to get the correct shape.
  • Now bring all your clubs and flag and arrange them on top of your golf bag. You might have to play with the sizing. Once you have them all the way you like you can “unite” them to the bag.
  • Add Text to the flag, for this design I used “You're TEE-RIFIC”

Golf Ball And Tee

  • Create a circle shape
  • Add text, I used “Happy Father's Day 2024” But this is can be customized to your liking.
  • I brought in a tee that I created from another project, you can find how I created that one in myj project “Dad's Golf Balls”
  • I then add small half circles (set to engrave) to show the dimples on the golf ball.

Step3: Lasering

Before sending to the laser we need to check all of our settings.

The outline of the golf bag should be set to “cut”

The inside of the bag should be set to score.

All the text in the project should be set to “engrave”

The small half circles inside of the golf ball should be set to “engrave”

The golf ball and tee should be set to “cut”

Step4: Designing the Base

After I cut my pieces I measure the bottoms of the pieces with digital calipers so i can get the correct dimensions for the base holes that the pieces will stick into.

Step5: Finishing the Project

Now you can grab some paint pens and give it a nice painted look. You can can also glue the pieces into the base for some extra stability.

Now you have quick easy gift to give dad for this big day!
