Information
We have a small business called "Clara's Trendy Designs" Got an order for 5 laser engravings of a photo.I removed background using ImagR. Using ImageR I resized to fit material and entered DPI 282 (appropriate DPI for S1 40 Watt) I then selected Marcin Bitmap mode for Wood.
Image details refined by using ImagR Color Change (top right corner) and selected setting 10 for Y size (Under Light Source), 10 for Diameter, 10 for Amount and 7 for Position (under Advanced)
Downloaded finished image.
Then Upload into XCS. In XCS, power 50, Speed 100, 1 Pass Bidirectional, Bitmap mode Atkinson, and Lines Per CM 280. Process time 1 hour 37 minutes on a 6mm 6 in by 6 in Birch plywood.
Upon completion engraving is cleaned with warm water with a small amount of Dawn dish soap and a toothbrush. Finally sprayed with thin layer of Rust-Oleum Matte Finish Clear Protective Finish.

Step3: Clean Clear Coat

Clean with warm water small amount Dawn Dish soap mix and toothbrush, dry. Spray clear coat (2 coats), dry. Deliver to satisfied customer.

I observed that results of laser engravings differ slightly on each piece due to wood natural properties. I could make each piece match better during the toothbrush cleaning by brushing more or less in dark areas.

Note: I determined it better to laser engrave each piece one at a time to insure accurate positioning of image with the Marking tool in XCS

Note: Positioning image with the wood grain running horizontal seems to give better results.
