Information

I did a remix of the cover notebook using quotes and vectored sampling of actual handwriting from Bill Wilson, founder of Alcholics Anonymous.
I used Inkscape to vector the handwriting and images. Moms Typewriter is the font I used for the quotes from the Big Book of Alcholics Anonymous. His handwritten notes on the back are the original 6 steps he wrote out for a friend of his.

This remix is based on

Step1: Get your wood!

Recovery Based Book Cover instruction: step 1 - Get your wood!

Get your wood, lay it out. Do a distance measurement on it. Then mark your work area.

Step2: Mark your area

After marking your work area, laying out the graphic is next. Control+A will select all and then you can drag it over to your workspace once you marked your project area. Now is the time for graphic layout. Edit your designs as you see fit, I changed how I printed the graphic on the cover. Shaded was just too much so I traced the image and did it that way.

Step3: Layout Graphic and Cut/Engrave

NOTICE if you print certain detailed images with lots of black- it wont come out well on wood after staining so I reversed and traced the image for the final product. I have uploaded the XCS file with settings on an S1 for each area with color layers. Feel free to tweak or experiment.

Step4: Antique or Stain Your Wood (or paint it)

I use a light antique paste and a rag and start slow and rub on, wipe off. I use a leather shoe waterproofing wax to treat the wooden binding inside and out - just rub it in after your staining or antique finish is done. Will minimize cracking. The wood is kinda delicate on a living hinge so be mindful lots of use will show it for sure. I plan on using book cloth on the inside of my next one.

Hope you like it. I am not selling these, just making them for friends in recovery. So, I ask you dont sell these if you use my graphic or design. Be well and thanks for looking
