Learn how to create this beautiful heart candle cup holder using the circular array tool and the outline function.
Select the heart shape from the “Shapes” menu and change the size to 1.3".
Add an outline of 0.171.
Select both of the shapes and “Subtract at overlap.” You will now have a single shape.
Select the heart shape then click on the Circular Array Tool.
Change the Y to 4.7 and click OK.
With all the shapes select click “Unite”
Draw a 2" circle and center it into the heart.
Add an outline of 0.090 to the circle. It should overlap the bottom points of the heart.
Select all the shapes and center both horizontally and vertically.
Select both the circles you created and “Subtract at Overlap”.
Select the heart shape and circle shape and click “Unite."
Select the shape you just created. Add an outline of 0.16 and click OK.
Now select that outline and add another outline of 0.090 and click OK.
These last 2 outlines create the base for the heart shape to rest on.
Seperate the heart design from the base and assign the following layer colors:
RED = Cut BLUE = Score. See photo for details.
Secure the wood to the bed of your laser. I'm using 3mm basswood for this project. Cut the RED layers and Score the BLUE layer.
Paint the base white. I choose to paint only from the inside of the score line and leave the outside natural wood color.
For the heart shape I painted it with pink acrylic craft paint, let it dry and then added a coat of Mod Podge. While that was still wet I sprinkled fine pink glitter over it.
One the project was completely dry I applied wood glue to the back of the heart shape and attached it to the base.
Add you candle to the center and you are done!
