Step1: Create the Design

The design and artwork were crafted using Adobe Illustrator, leveraging its powerful tools for precision and creativity. While Adobe's Ai feature facilitated the creation of the sloth image, adjustments were necessary to optimize it for laser cutting. I simplified the design, removing extraneous details to ensure clarity in the final product. Afterward, I carefully selected and applied colors to enhance the sloth's appearance and make it visually appealing.

Step2: Import Image into Creative Space

Upon importing the sloth image into Creative Space, utilize the "Trace Image" feature to convert it into an SVG format suitable for cutting. The default settings were applied during this process to generate the SVG file seamlessly.

Following that, incorporate your desired text and ensure it is evenly spaced to complement the image. Additionally, I included a border to elevate the overall aesthetic appeal of the project.

Step3: Final Layout and Settings

Duplicate the project to create a backdrop copy. Ensure to eliminate all intricate details, retaining only the outlines of the image and lettering. These outlines will be lightly scored onto the wood, facilitating precise placement during subsequent stages.

The sign on the left, marked entirely in red, represents the pieces to be cut out for the project. Conversely, the sign on the right, distinguished by a red border, green outline, and lettering, serves as the backdrop. The green outline will consist of light score marks, aiding in the precise alignment of pieces during assembly.

Choose your materials and position them within the laser cutter. Adjust the laser depth and establish boundaries for the project. Utilize the rectangle tool to define the processing area. Fine-tune your settings and proceed to cut your project with precision.

Step4: Prep for Painting and Assembly

With the cutting and scoring completed, it's time to delicately extract each piece and prepare them for painting. I rely on tweezers to handle the particularly fragile parts. Organizing the pieces, I allocate them onto three distinct sections of cardboard: one for black paint, one for coffee paint, and one for white paint. After gathering all the pieces, I take them outdoors for a swift spray-paint session. Once dry, each piece is meticulously adhered to the backdrop. Following assembly and drying, I apply a swift coat of polyurethane to seal the project.
