I wanted to replace the fading sticker labels in the workshop so I made these little wooden tags that can be screwed, glued or cable tied depending on what you need to attach them to. There are 5 ready made tags in this file but you can make them with any words or pictures using the steps below. These were made using the xTool D1 Pro 5w and plain 4mm MDF
First write the text for each label in a separate text box and choose a nice font.
Next set the size of your text, I wanted my tags to be around 80mm wide.
If you would like images on your tags you will need to create your own or find them online.
A quick google search should find lots of suitable images by typing ‘sander icon’ or something similar for the image you are looking for.
Once you have your text and image placed next to each other you will want to select both together and use the outline feature in XCS set to at least 5mm to create a boarder around the text.
This boarder will be the cut line for the finished tag so feel free to make it as big or small as you want to.
If you are going to be mounting these with screws you will also want to add some holes on each end of the tag.
You will need to draw a 10mm circle and align a 4mm circle in the centre of it. Them use the combine feature to add the 10mm circle to the text outline that you made earlier.
You are now ready to cut and engrave. The settings listed here are for the D1 Pro 5w laser and 4mm MDF and will need to be adjusted for other materials.
