Tutorial on how to create a keyring design that can be used as a stand alone design or to engrave onto a keyring blank.
Draw a circle measuring 2.5"
Next create a smaller circle. Use the “Outline” tool for this. Click the larger circle click on the outline tool and type in -0.12 and click OK Make sure to uncheck the Add Inner Outline for bitmap.
Now click on the circle you just created and repeat the process to create another smaller circle.
Change the Outer circle (2.5") one to a RED layer and the 2 smaller inner circles to a PURPLE layer.
Select both of the PURPLE circles and from the “Combine” menu select “Subtract at overlap" to make them a single element. Apply ”Engrave" from the parameters menu.
Select the “Text” tool and type the word MOM. Select your font and change the font size to 30 pt. No need to weld.
Open the Application icon (left of the work screen) and select the “Circular Array” tool.
Change Copies to 6 and the Y to 5.6 and click OK. Note you will no longer be able to edit the text.
Resize to 1.8" and place inside the circles.
From the “Shapes” menu select the soccer ball, resize to fit into the center of the circle.
When you are happy with the placement select all the elements of the design and align both horizontal and vertical.
Copy/paste to duplicate the design and set the original to the side. You can use this one as an engrave file for a keychain blank.
Choose the half circle from the shapes menu, rotate 90 degrees, resize and place over the outer circle as shown in the drawing.
Select both the outer RED circle and the half circle and align horizontally, then “Unite” the two together.
You now have two designs. One that can be cut and engraved as a keyring and the other that can be engraved onto a keyring blank. If engraving onto a blank delete the RED outer circle or assign it a purple layer and an engraving parameter.
You can personalize the keychain by adding text to the back. Once you have engraved and cut the front flip it over and place back into the space it just cut from.
Once complete, add the keychain hardware and the project is complete.
Since these are vector files you can resize them without compromising the quality.
