I've made a new wooden cover for my notebook. This project was inspired by Xtool Spain & Sandra from @pasitoapasitodecorando (instagram).
First determine the dimensions of your book cover* and then choose a rectangle with the same dimensions under 'shapes'. Then place the harmonica mechanism from my file in the center of the rectangle. Check whether it has the correct width. Adjust this if necessary by removing dashes or adding extra dashes (copy/paste). Then add the desired images and text to your design. I chose a floral pattern from XCS shapes/patterns.
Choose your desired wood and place it in the laser. I used my honeycomb and magnets for this.
I used 3mm plywood from the hardware store*. Choose the settings that best suit your wood. You can test this in advance with a test grid. I chose to score the floral pattern, engrave the text and cut the rest. See the pictures for the settings I used.

When your cover is ready, you can treat it with a varnish (spray) to keep the cover nice and neat. After it’s dry you can go on with assemble.
Remove the original cover from te notebook (optional). Then you can stick the cover to your (note)book. Use double-sided tape, from Tesa or for example. If desired, you can place a cotter pin on the front and an elastic band on the back, so that you can close your book.

* I used a black notebook from a Dutch store called HEMA, price €5,-, for this project.
